I know it's not the Rangers, but I couldn't resist

I can't imagine DET burns a top-10 pick on him. Yzerman never took a goalie that high

Vegas is my leader in the club house to draft him. I mean who better to take over for Fleury for the Golden Knights, other then an actual Knight a Knight in shining armor kinda

I could see Colorado going after him at 16. Someone drafting him in the top 10 would be an absolute comedy show though

I don’t see why people are freaking over Hayes contract. It’s about what should be expected. 7 mill is the new 5 mill🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe a year to much, but the money seems fine to me. I saw someone say it’s top 5 worst contract in the league already and I’m like wtf are you kidding?

this mock draft from 2005 had Price and Raask going at 19 and 21

I remember it being a bit of a shock when Montreal took Price at 5

It's pretty bad. He's 7mo younger than Nelson and has a career high of two more points than him and he got paid $14M more

I don’t think paying a second line center 6-7 mill is bad either way, that’s the going rate. In two years the second line center will be paid 8 probably

Anyone seen Panarin27 lately? He is up with the Dallas pick and I haven’t heard from him the last two days.

Well yeah, the cap typically rises every year and a rising tide lifts all boats. But to me this is just an example of a team coveting a player and doing whatever it takes to get him signed which usually has a bad ending. I think Nelson's deal is a lot more in line with where average 2C's should be paid now. It's not the worst contract ever, but I think Philly will ultimately regret this one.

Just pick for him. I'll do it if you don't want to.

I'm with you on this one. I always thought that he was going to get more than Brock, but great googly moogly. That's a lot to pay someone who will be used in a checking role.

I keep waiting for the market to fall out like baseball. If the cap remains stagnant, no way can these teams keep elevating the market like this. At some point, guys are either going to be out of a job, or will have to start taking massive paycuts. I have no doubt that the true stars will always get their shares, but this pie is going to be all gone at some point.

If the Knight rumor is true, I would guess its Canucks. What a way to shake up the draft at their house!

Draft projections are always overstated, but I've heard people saying that he could wind up being the best US goalie of all time. Although we know that it would be foolish for the Devils or Rangers to take him, if that scouting were to be true, it almost means he would make sense as the pick anywhere in the draft. I could see him landing in Detroit. I'm not sure he makes it to Vancouver.

Thank god we dodged that Hayes contract, gross over payment, with that being said I really want Panarin on this team but am deathly afraid we would be heading towards Toronto's dilemma, not enough cap room to sign an elite RFA

I don't think the UFA deals are the problem, it's the RFA deals that are the biggest problem. They've essentially eliminated bridge deals and owners only have themselves to blame for that one.
